Terms of Service

Resume Builder is an AI-assisted tool for job seekers. You can store your work history, build and edit resumes and cover letters, save job descriptions you are targeting, and ask the service to draft, rewrite, analyze, and score that material against a specific role. Finished documents export to DOCX so you can send them wherever you like.

The service also includes supporting features such as job-match scoring, company research, interview preparation and practice, and optional publishing tools. We add, change, and retire features over time. We may also limit how much of a feature you can use in a given period so the service stays available and affordable for everyone.

Resume Builder helps you write applications. It does not find you a job, submit applications for you, or promise any hiring outcome.

You sign in with Google. We use Google’s OAuth sign-in rather than storing a password for you, which means the security of your Google account is also the security of your Resume Builder account. Keep it protected, and tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access.

One account belongs to one person. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping the information in it accurate. Access to the service may be limited to invited or approved email addresses while we are onboarding new users.

Use Resume Builder to work on your own job search. Do not use it to:

• Misrepresent your experience, credentials, employment history, or identity — including asking the AI to invent qualifications you do not have.
• Upload someone else’s personal information without their permission.
• Post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, or that infringes someone else’s intellectual property or privacy rights.
• Attempt to break, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the service, or to circumvent rate limits, usage caps, or access controls.
• Scrape or bulk-extract the service, resell access to it, or use it to build a competing product.
• Submit content you are contractually prohibited from disclosing, such as an employer’s confidential material.

Your content stays yours. The resumes, work history, cover letters, job descriptions, notes, and files you put into Resume Builder — and the documents the service produces from them — belong to you. We claim no ownership over them.

You give us a limited licence to host, store, copy, transmit, and process your content for one purpose only: operating the service for you. That includes sending the relevant parts of it to the AI providers described below so a feature you asked for can run, and storing it in our database so it is there when you come back.

We do not sell your content. We do not use it to train AI models, and we do not permit our AI providers to train on it under the terms we use with them. We do not publish it or share it with employers, recruiters, or advertisers.

What is ours stays ours as well: the software, design, templates, and brand remain the property of Resume Builder and are licensed to you for personal use, not transferred.

Resume Builder’s drafting, rewriting, scoring, and analysis features are powered by large language models. These models are probabilistic. They can produce text that is confidently wrong, mischaracterize your experience, invent details, repeat awkward phrasing, or give scores and advice that simply do not apply to your situation.

Output is not legal, financial, career, or immigration advice. Similar prompts from different users can produce similar output, so we cannot promise that anything generated is unique to you or protectable by copyright.

Running Resume Builder means relying on other companies. Depending on which features you use, your content or account information may pass through:

• OpenAI and Anthropic — the AI models behind generation, rewriting, scoring, and analysis.
• Google — sign-in, and public news results used by the company research feature.
• Neon — the managed PostgreSQL database that stores your account and content — and Vercel, which hosts and serves the application.
• Amazon Web Services (Polly), OpenAI, and Cartesia — speech synthesis and transcription for interview practice, used only when you use those features.
• Stripe — payment processing, if and when you buy a paid plan. Card details go to Stripe, never to us.
• LinkedIn — only if you explicitly connect a LinkedIn account to publish posts.

These providers have their own terms and privacy practices, and we are not responsible for how they operate their services. The Privacy Policy explains what each one receives.

Some features are free and some may require a paid plan. Where we offer paid plans, prices, included usage, and billing intervals are shown before you buy, payments are handled by Stripe, and subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.

You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops the next renewal and you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for. Unless the law where you live says otherwise, payments already made are non-refundable. We may change pricing with reasonable notice, and we may apply fair-use limits on AI generation because each request has a real cost.

You can stop using Resume Builder whenever you want, and you can ask us to delete your account and its content — see your rights in the Privacy Policy. Export anything you want to keep first; deletion is permanent.

We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if your use puts the service or other users at risk, or if we are required to by law. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your documents.

The sections on your content, disclaimers, and limitation of liability survive the end of this agreement.

Resume Builder is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that AI output will be accurate or suitable, or that using Resume Builder will result in interviews, offers, or employment of any kind. Features that depend on third-party providers can fail or change without notice.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Resume Builder and the people who work on it are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities, lost employment, or lost or corrupted data arising out of your use of the service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and one hundred U.S. dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

We may update these Terms as the service changes. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will give notice in the app or by email before they take effect.

Continuing to use Resume Builder after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the service and delete your account.

These Terms are governed by the laws of TODO — state / country, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
